ABOUT KLEMENS EITER Klemens Eiter, Certified Public Accountant and Tax Advisor, is a managing partner in BDO Austria GmbH and has almost 20 years of experience in the accounting and advisory business. During his career Mr Eiter has gathered expertise in many different areas. Initially he specialised in combined services, serving primary mid-size clients. He advised on tax and accounting issues and also on group restructions and financial advisory and transaction business. From 2000 onwards, he has focused on international financial reporting and has moved his client base to listed companies. As an accounting and IFRS expert, he is now a member of the Austrian Financial Reporting and Auditing Committee (AFRAC) and the Austrian chamber of chartered accountants and he also acts as a lecturer and author. Making use of his broad knowledge and experience, he supports clients in various areas. With his expertise in the fields of financial reporting, tax and restructuring, he has advised the listed Austrian construction group, Porr, on the divestment of its real-estate division in a complex two-step capital- market transaction. Step one involved the spin-off of Porr’s-real-estate operations into a new listed company (PIAG). In step two the newly listed PIAG was merged with UBM, a listed Porr associate, over which Porr had taken control in the interim. The whole transaction was completed within a few months and ended in a final structure of two pure listed players: Porr as a construction company and UBM as a real-estate company, leading to a significant increase in market cap for both companies.
