While I grew up in Bastrop, TX I moved out of my house when I was fourteen years old due to a challenging home life. While I was fortunate to find a welcoming foster family, this left an indelible impression on me and challenged me to learn and understand howmoney works. I put myself through college by working for four years at Wal-Mart, and then launched Synergy, an independent financial advisory firm, during my senior year at Southwest Texas State University. I graduated with a BBA in Finance in 2001. In 2002, I was asked to address the advisors at a large financial services firm at their Leaders’ Conference in Hawaii.
